Realme 1, 2, C1 and U1 Will Not Get Realme UI Update
Realme doesn’t necessarily have the best track record for software updates. But the company does manage to roll out updates for its devices at a moderate pace. It provides at least 2 major Android updates for a majority of its smartphone lineup.
However, this isn’t the case for all smartphones launched by the company. One of the first few devices from Realme which are the Realme 1, 2, C1 and U1 released with Android 8.1 Oreo onboard. Thus, users expect the devices to be updated to Android 10 which will be the 2nd major Android update for these phones.
Unfortunately, this does not seem to be the case. All the aforementioned smartphones have been updated to Android 9 Pie. However, these devices will not be receiving the Realme UI update. And since Realme UI is only based on Android 10 or newer, the hopes for receiving Android 10 on the Realme 1, 2, C1 and U1 are gone.
This information comes straight from Madhav Sheth — CEO for Realme India. In the latest #AskMadhav episode 17, a question asking if the Realme 1, 2, C1 and U1 will receive Realme UI was presented. In response to the question Madhav stated:
Realme UI is developed and based on Android 10 only. So devices like realme 1, 2 U1 and C1 can’t be updated to Realme UI. And developing Realme UI on Android 9 is not in the plans.Madhav Sheth, CEO REalme India
Well, that pretty much gets rid of hopes for users who were expecting to get the Realme UI update on their Realme 1, 2, C1 or U1. It’s unclear why the company chose not to update these devices to Android 10 since this would have been only the second major update.
